SGA President Zayvion Shepperd's Emergency Assistance Fund Campaign

 94th SGA President's Strategic Plan

Georgia State's Emergency Assistance Fund provides students with the financial support they need to overcome an unanticipated financial hardship or basic-needs insecurity. President Sheppard's hopes that his partnership with this Dean of Students Administrated Fund will enhance student success by helping publicize the EAF to students and raising funds for students who are at risk of financial burdens. Research has shown that financial stability can play a significant role in a college student's success. When students are free from financial stress and can focus on their studies, their overall academic performance and well-being tend to improve.

Six ways contributions to the Emergency Assistance Fund can help improve the overall academic performance and well-being of Panthers.

 1. Academic Performance: Students who don't have to worry about financial difficulties can allocate more time and energy to their studies. They can attend classes        regularly, complete assignments on time, and engage in extracurricular activities that enhance their learning experience.

2. Higher Graduation Rates: Financial stability often leads to higher retention and graduation rates. Financially secure students are more likely to persist through their academic programs and graduate on time.

3. Reduced Stress: Financial stress can take a toll on students' mental health. When students can cover their basic needs and have access to resources, their stress levels decrease, allowing them to focus better on their coursework.

4. Participation in Opportunities: Financially secure Students are more likely to participate in internships, research projects, study abroad programs, and other enriching experiences that can contribute to their personal and professional growth.

5. Improved Well-being: Financial stability can positively impact students' overall well-being, leading to better physical and mental health. This, in turn, can enhance their ability to succeed academically.

6. Focus on Skill Development: Without financial stress, students can focus on developing skills that are essential for their chosen career paths, such as networking, communication, and critical thinking.

Your support of the Emergency Assistance Fund will not only help provide financial assistance to Panthers with basic household expenses like rent, childcare, and/or transportation but it could help thousands of students overcome barriers, maintain enrollment and stay on course to graduation.

With your gift to the Emergency Assistance Fund the Georgia State University Foundation will provide emergency support for students facing unexpected financial hardship.
