Decatur-Dekalb Retired Educators Association

A scholarship that helps cover tuition and fees for GSU – Perimeter College education pathway students who are graduates of the Decatur City Schools or Dekalb County School District.

Decatur-Dekalb Retired Educators Association

In partnership with Georgia State University – Perimeter College, members of the Decatur Dekalb Retired Educators Association (DDREA) established an education scholarship in 2011, providing a financial incentive to help recruit and retain students enrolling in the teacher preparation program. Eligible students are GSU – Perimeter College students who are pursuing a pathway in education, and who are graduates of the Decatur City Schools or Dekalb County School District. In the Spring of each academic year, the $1,000 scholarship, which helps to cover tuition and fees, is awarded during the freshman or sophomore year to one eligible student enrolled at a GSU – Perimeter College Campus.

Over the years, funds for this scholarship were raised by DDREA through silent auctions and contributions by members and friends of education. Currently, the scholarship is endowed at the $10,000 level, but the goal is to increase the endowment to $25,000 by raising a minimum of $5,000 each year. DDREA invites you to support education pathways to become teachers by giving to the DDREA Scholarship. A gift of any size will be greatly appreciated and will help to firmly establish and maintain the scholarship to provide current and future years of support for education pathways.
