Nutrition and Dietetics Scholarship Endowment

More students are pursuing degrees in nutrition as America stares in the face of a predicted 11% rise in available jobs over the next decade for professionals with nutrition degrees. With experience in nutrition, one can go into sports nutrition, clinical dietetics, public health nutrition, and food safety auditing, to name a few potential fields. As more students step into the Nutrition Department, the need for scholarship funding increases, especially during these unprecedented times. 

The Lewis College is hoping to endow the nutrition and dietetics scholarship fund so that financial assistance can be provided to deserving students in perpetuity. Thanks to the support of generous donors, every dollar raised through this campaign will be matched up to $3,100! 

With increased support and funding into the Nutrition and Dietetics Scholarship, the department can award students with $500 scholarships to offset the costs of tuition, textbooks, and other expenses incurred while pursuing their education. As a result, Lewis students can focus on thriving and succeeding in their studies with an end goal of entering the community of healthcare professionals, rather than wondering how they will cover necessary fees and costs.

The Nutrition Department plans to execute these scholarships of $500 awards to students based on the student’s GPA, performance on an essay, participation in nutrition- and professional-related activities, presentation of need, and recommendation from faculty.

With your gift to the Nutrition and Dietetics Scholarship Endowment, the Georgia State University Foundation will establish a scholarship endowment for students in the Nutrition Department. Funds raised above the minimum endowment level of $25,000 will be added to the principal of the endowment.
