Our Project
As part of the certification requirements for the Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA), each student member of NLA must demonstrate competencies in ten key areas, one of which is fundraising. Additionally, each student must also attend the Alliance Management Institute (AMI)—an annual conference for nonprofit professionals.
By attending the conference, our students will have the opportunity to network with nonprofit professionals, participate in real and mock interviews with prospective employers, attend workshops that focus on innovation in the sector, strategic partnerships and social change and serve as consultants solving real issues facing local nonprofit organizations.
The 2020 conference is in Kansas City, Missouri and will take place January 5 - January 8. With an anticipated 15-18 members who are planning on attending this January, we have been seeking out new avenues of income to help lessen the financial burden on our student members. This project not only offers our members the opportunity to learn more about fundraising through crowdfunding, but it will also help cover costs for the students who plan to attend AMI this year. Registration and expenses to the Kansas City conference this year will cost each student approximately $800 and we are hoping to raise $11,500 to cover at least eighty percent of the costs incurred.
What Is NLA?
Nonprofit Leadership Alliance (NLA) is a national alliance of colleges, universities and nonprofits dedicated to educating, preparing, and certifying professionals to strengthen and lead nonprofit organizations. There are more than 40 different academic institutions and organizations across the United States with Nonprofit Leadership Alliance chapters, and the Andrew Young School is proud to be a leading site in the national NLA network. NLA exists to strengthen the leadership of the social sector and sustain the ability of nonprofits to fulfill their missions with a talented and prepared workforce.
About Our Chapter:
Why Give?.
The NLA students who earn the opportunity to attend the 2020 Kansas City Alliance Management Institute (AMI) will all have their registration paid from funds raised from last year's efforts. The primary goal of this crowdfunding project is to fund a minimum of eighty percent of travel, lodging and expenses, As with past fundraising projects NLA takes on, any extra money goes into our banking account to help cover the registration costs for future conference attendees from our chapter. One of our objectives is to leave some funds for next year’s NLA student members so that they will not be starting from scratch and so they can pay their registration in advance to qualify for a discount
With your gift to NLA AMI 2020!, the Georgia State University Foundation will fund student registration for the Alliance management Institute and related travel expenses for student attendees. Any additional funds will continue to offset the costs of travel. If the project funds remain inactive for six (6) months, they will be remain in the NLA Crowdfunding fund for future AMI travel expenses.
